PRAYERS OF INTERCESSION

Called, gathered, and empowered to serve, let us pray for the church, the world, and all those in need. A brief silence.

God of all, we give you thanks that in baptism you have cleansed us from our sin claimed us as you children and called us to serve you with the grace you have shown us.. Look upon us with favor as we serve your name. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of the universe, we praise you for the beauty of creation. For the warmth of the summer sun and the cooling rains that water your earth. Enliven our senses by its splendor and fill us with your peace and rest. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of peace, we pray for your servants who are persecuted for their faith. Open our minds to know your great love for all people. Encourage reconciliation among those with opposing beliefs, that all may joyfully praise your name. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of compassion, heal our hurts and ailments. Grant courage and freedom to those who suffer especially those we name before you this day, that all may know of your healing power. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of consolation, comfort widows and orphans, that they may not feel lost or forgotten but know of your presence and care through their brothers and sisters in Christ. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of love, grant to all who are gathered here today safe travel as they return to their homes and into your service. Help them to use all that they experienced in this assembly so that your word may go forth as they serve to spread your gospel. Lord, in your mercy. hear our prayer.

God of mercy, dry the tears of those who mourn the loss of loved ones and comfort all who remember those saints, like Barnabas and the Cappadocian fathers who now surround your throne of grace, that all may be awakened to newness of life. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Amen.
