The VITAL CONGREGATIONS: JUST COMMUNITIES training event is for you!

After this event you will:
helping handBe equipped with the basic tools and skills of organizing congregations for direct action in your community.
helping handUnderstand the theological and biblical mandate to DO Justice.
helping handBelong to a network of pastors and professionals who are actively involved in direct action. 

Purpose:

  • A main intent of this Vital Congregations – Just Communities initiative is to give participants a clear and strong sense that congregation-based organizing fits squarely within the framework of Lutheran theology and a Lutheran way of interpreting scripture.
  • This MAPP initiative was initially conceived for the purpose of exposing Lutheran leaders to the arts, principles and communities of congregation-based organizing.
Our trainers are experienced congregation-based organizers:
  • Pastor Ron Luckey – Faith Lutheran Church, Lexington, Ky., and president of B.U.I.L.D. -Building a United Interfaith Lexington through Direct-Action
  • Pastor Lyle McKee -St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Bloomington, Ind.
  • Robert Owens, lead organizer for C.L.O.U.T -Citizens of Louisville Organized and United Together in Louisville, Ky.
  • John Aeschbury, lead organizer for B.R.E.A.D.-Building Responsibility, Equality, and Dignity in Columbus, Ohio
