Dr. Allen currently serves as Senior Associate Dean for Medical Student Education and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.  He serves as a consultant for the Indiana Department of Health for the Tuberculosis Control Program.  He practices in Infectious Diseases and HIV care at the Indianapolis Veterans Administration Medical Center.  He is currently Governor of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Allen has B.S., M.D., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa.  He completed his residency at the Baylor College of Medicine, where he was chief resident.

An avid bicyclist, Dr. Allen is also a Lutheran, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and enjoys travel with his wife, Anne.  They have a new granddaughter, Avery Lynn.
