The 2019 Indiana-Kentucky Synod Assembly voted unanimously to recognize the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) every year. The main date for the IDOP is on Sunday, November 6. Churches can also recognize the day of prayer on November 13, 20, and 27, as the whole month of November is a prayer emphasis for the persecuted church.
We are living at a time when the churches in much of the world are experiencing rapid growth. Even in places that have not seen growth in the Church for 1,400 years, there is growth. But along with rapid growth – as has often happened before in history – has come persecution. Therefore, when one part of the Body of Christ suffers the whole Body prays and supports each other.
