Service Opportunties: Volunteer with others at Community Harvest Food Bank where we will packs bags of food for needy senior or hungry kids, stock shelves in their on-site food pantry, or sort food for member agencies. Community Harvest Food Bank was founded in 1983 and serves a nine county area in Northeast Indiana. They distribute 13.1 million pounds of food per year to 393 different member agencies – church food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and youth programs. 90,000 unique individuals receive food each year. Volunteers will travel by chartered bus from the Grand Wayne Convention Center to Community Harvest Food Bank and return.
Led by the Sew Sew Ladies from Faith Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, volunteers will help sew cancer pads which are donated to Cancer Services of Indiana. This project will take place at the Grand Wayne Convention Center. Refreshments will be served.
To take part in either of these service projects, please indicate your interest when you register for the assembly.
