The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission program has called 76 young adult volunteers into service for 2015-2016. These young adults will serve in Argentina, Uruguay, Camobdia, Hungary, Jerusalem, Madagascar, Mexico, Rwanda, Southern Aftrica and the United Kingdom.
The five young adults listed below are from the Indiana-Kentucky mission territory.
YAGM volunteers serve in areas such as congregational ministry, human rights work, development projects, healthcare, education and youth work. Volunteers will have the opportunity for global service, spiritual growth, community building and reflection on one’s place in God’s world.
Each young adult volunteer commits to raising $4,000 to support their year of service, and the ELCA seeks sponsors for the remaining $7,000 needed for their total support package. This money covers transportation costs, housing, board or food allowance, a small stipend, health insurance, etc. If you would like to support these young people, follow the instructions listed below for each individual on how to give.
Most of all, keep these young adults in your prayers as they take the plunge into a life-changing year-long journey in communities around the world. Create a covenant of prayer, communication and financial support with a Young Adults in Global Mission group or individual with a covenant form found here.
Almighty God, you sent your Son Jesus Christ to reconcile the world to yourself. We praise and bless you for those whom you have sent in the power of the Spirit to preach the gospel to all nations. We thank you that in all parts of the earth a community of love has been gathered together by their prayers and labors, and that in every place your servants call upon your name; for the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours forever.
