“And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known. John 1:14, 16-18”
(New Revised Standard Version)
This is one of my all-time favorite passages. It is a simple, brief, and poetic detail of the birth of Jesus, whom we celebrate on this day. I don’t know about you but I need daily reminders that I have received grace upon grace and that my grace and truth (and yours) come through Jesus. It is not dependent on me – never has been and never will be. I cannot do anything to earn this grace and truth; it is a gift from God through the Son Jesus Christ. This is what allows me to love with the love that I have received through Jesus. It is this love that helps bring hope to the world by the way we live our lives and share the love of Christ to all.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for showering us with grace and for revealing your grace and truth to us. May our lives always shine with your grace and truth to all people. Amen

Wondering While Waiting: Where do you see love flourishing in the world today?
