2022 ELCA Model Constitution for Congregations

The latest version of the ELCA Model Constitution for Congregations has now been posted on the ELCA website: https://elca.org/About/Churchwide/Office-of-the-Secretary/Constitutions. This version reflects changes that were approved in August at the 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assembly. This website also contains a document that notes what sections were amended and the rationale for the changes. All congregations should bring their constitutions into conformity with the 2022 Model Constitution (see chapter 16 for more guidance).

The Indiana-Kentucky Constitution Committee has completed updating our synod’s guidelines for revising a constitution, and that guide is available here:
