3rd Sunday after Epiphany (Luke 4:14-21)
Today we hear about a time when Jesus was teaching in a synagogue in his hometown in Nazareth. A synagogue is a holy place where people pray and worship God. Jesus said something that made the people so mad that they chased him out of the building!

Jesus was teaching the people about God’s love. He told them that God loved everyone. That made the people angry because they believed that there were some people that God didn’t love, people who were different than they were or who had problems or who weren’t as rich as they were. Jesus told them that they were wrong that God loves everyone. That made them so angry with Jesus that they chased him out of the building.
We know that Jesus is right and the people were wrong. God does love everyone. It doesn’t matter if we are different or have problems or have lots of money or don’t have any. God loves each of us just the way we are. God created us and made each of us as special and unique people.
God loves each of us and calls us to love and serve others.
