SUNDAY SCHOOL @ HOME – 2nd Sunday after Epiphany (January 15, 2023)
Bible Passage (John 1:29-42)
Today we hear about John the Baptist telling others about Jesus. We learn how people’s lives were changed when they heard what John had to say. We also learn how our lives can be changed and how we, too, can change lives.
Watch this video together:
Read:
John the Baptist was always telling people about Jesus. In fact, John was always pointing people to Jesus and to God’s love.
The day after John baptized Jesus, he saw Jesus walking toward him and he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” John told everyone that God had sent Jesus to earth. He let people know that God had sent Jesus to save them – to save them from their sins, from the things that they did that were not what God wanted them to do. He explained that Jesus was God’s child. He told them that when he baptized Jesus that the heavens opened and a dove came down and voice from heaven – God’s voice – said, “This is my Son, whom I love.”
Whenever John saw Jesus he told people that Jesus was the Lamb of God. When people heard what John said, they followed Jesus. That changed their lives. As we follow Jesus our lives our changed as well. When we share God’s love with others, their lives are also changed.
Discuss

Activity
This 3-D heart craft is for Valentine’s Day, but you can make it today and instead of writing “Happy Valentine’s Day” on it, you can write “God Loves You” as a reminder that we can point to God’s love for us. If you follow the link below, there is a template for the hearts as well as a video to help you see how to construct the project.

Activity
After hearing John talk about Jesus, Andrew follows him. Andrew tells his brother and Simon Peter follows. In “Say Something” we hear about using our voice to say something. We hear about speaking through our actions and our creativity. What would you tell someone about Jesus?
Prayer
God, like John the Baptist, help us to point others to Jesus. Help us to remember that your love for us never ends. Amen.
